International Certification Outdoor Leader Semester is a course based in Costa Rica and Panama. This Outward Bound Costa Rica course combines seven internationally-recognized certifications and an in-depth study of the Outward Bound Costa Rica's experiential educational model. Participants can enroll to the whole semester course (65 days) and earn all seven certifications or, alternatively, enroll to just a portion of the course and earn one or more specific certifications.  

Ages: 17 and up

Certifications include:
Wilderness First Responder (A.S.H.I.)
CPR for Professional Rescuer (A.S.H.I.)
River Guide Level III (I.R.F.)
White Water Rescue Technician (Rescue 3)
SCUBA (or Advanced) Diver (N.A.U.I.)
Recreational Rappel Operator (Rescue 3)
Waterfront Life-Guarding (American Red Cross)

Academic Credits:
Participants to the full 65-course are eligible for 10 academic credits, an an Independent Study program or as a transfer from our partner Western Colorado University.

Details
Learn to set up belay systems for technical tree climbing and jungle waterfall rappelling, organize rescues, provide wilderness medical care, guide rafts down world-class tropical rivers, lead groups through the Costa Rican rainforest, and scuba dive in Caribbean waters during this comprehensive technical skills training course. Seven internationally-recognized certifications and an in-depth study of the Outward Bound educational model are integrated into the program to make you a desirable instructor or guide for various organizations throughout the world.

Students who show exceptional skills during this course are invited to join us as Field Instructor Interns during our high season, June through August.

Tuition:
$9,300 USD
(includes all in-country costs including meals, transportation, didactic materials, accommodation, certification fees. The only expenses participants are responsible for are flights and extra spending money)
