Trail Work: Black Mountain/Black Widow
*We are keeping a close eye on the weather. We will post updates here and on Facebook even page. We will also send email update to all registered volunteers.
This is the BIG ONE! Time to move the recently purchase paver stones up the mountain. We will use city vehicle and our recently purchase motorized wheelbarrow to assist moving stones up but then stones need to be moved to their respective staging areas to prepare for construction for remainder of the winter. Bring your upper body strength and a cross training type attitude. Bring friends!
Please be aware this will be street parking and we are asking for courtesy in the neighborhood. BE QUIET until we are in the open space. We have to be model trail stewards. Nobody wants their weekends disrupted by a rowdy pack of builders.
As always be prepared and bring
- Sturdy footwear and pants
- Eye protection
- Hats and other sun protection
- plenty of Water
- extra snacks
This day is the start of a marathon, not a sprint. Plan on many build days on the mountain over the coming build season. We really need your help this year. To say there will be heavy lifting is an understatement as we need to move over 10,000 lbs of paver stones for a few reinforced turns. Unfamiliar with paver stones? Look at Mammoth and Snow Summit for an overview. We are not adding them to all turns, rather a few that will need it. There is a lot of rock and other natural elements to work with as well.
As always there will be light snacks and a beverage choice (adult and otherwise) as a reward for your participation.
