Event Description

If you’re a woman feeling frustrated at the slow progress and now pushback from men on gender equality,
If you perceive that many organisations and male leaders are paying “lip service” and not really taking action.
If you’re feeling a growing scepticism about the role of men in supporting, let alone actively pursuing progress,
You are not alone!!

However, EWMD (a leading global women’s network) is aware of men who are active in allyship and who support women in working towards gender equality and inclusion.  We will be spotlighting these men in a special online event on Thursday 26th June from 3:00-4:30pm CET.

Titled Men Who Are Stepping Up!, the session will feature men who are thought leaders and innovators in five key areas of male allyship. We are delighted to welcome:

  • Building communities of men who support gender equality and inclusion: James Routledge, Founder, Jack

  • Coaching men to become allies and inclusive leaders: Daniele Fiandaca, Founder, Token Man Consulting

  • Offering services in building allyship to organisations: Lee Chambers, Founder and CEO, Male Allies UK

  • Leading allyship and support of women in organisations: Niklas Weigand, Managing Director Energy Solutions, ENGIE Deutschland

  • Raising awareness of the issues of gender equality through social media: Jeremy Stockdale, CEO & Founder, Ylead

The event will be moderated by Robert Baker, Founder and CEO of Potentia Talent Consulting and a member of EWMD.

We will showcase the work that each man is doing and so:

  • Reassure women that there are men highly committed to building male allyship to accelerate gender equality and inclusion

  • Offer women an opportunity to ask questions and explore the work of these men further.

We firmly believe this event will enhance the partnership between women and men in resisting pushback and driving for progress. Sign up here to participate in this groundbreaking event

James Routledge, Founder JACK

James is building a movement around men and masculinity.  He is the Founder of  JACK: a community for GOOD men and is aiming to build a group of 1,000 men who are changing the narrative on men, men's mental health and masculinity.
James was a driving force in the mental health movement from 2015 – 2022. He started Sanctus and brought mental heath in the workplace support to hundreds of workplaces and tens of thousands of people. He wrote Mental Health at Work with Penguin.
James believes the next wave of social change will centre around a new version of masculinity and a change in narrative around what it means to be a man. James believes the time for this is now!

Daniele Fiandaca, Founder Token Man Consulting

Daniele is founder of Token Man Consulting, an inclusion and diversity consultancy which specialises in engaging senior leaders and men with I&D and inspiring them to become inclusive leaders and agents of change, creating workplaces that are truly inclusive and diverse. Token Man Consulting was born from Token Man, an initiative Daniele co-founded nearly a decade ago to engage men with the gender equity discussion. He is also co-founder of Masculinity in the Workplace, one of the few I&D events that is dedicated to engaging men and inspiring them to become better allies and agents of change, and Hard as Nails, a movement to get men painting their nails to open up conversations around masculinity and mental health.

He has been featured on the Startups 100 Index, has received a Great British Entrepreneur Award, and sits on the board of CMI Women, Regenerage UK and the Manchester Metropolitan University Business School. Niklas Weigand, Managing Director Energy Solutions, ENGIE Deutschland

Niklas joined the management of ENGIE Deutschland GmbH on November 1, 2023, and took on the role of MD Local Energy Infrastructures on January 1, 2024. Now, Niklas Wiegand sees his new task as a challenge: "Mastering climate change is the greatest task of our time. I look forward to reliably supporting our customers in Germany in the transition to climate neutrality together with my colleagues and positioning ENGIE Deutschland for a sustainably successful future."
Niklas Wiegand comes from the Bilfinger Group, where he has helped shape the restructuring and transformation process from a construction company to an industrial service provider in recent years; most recently as head of Germany with around 5,000 employees. The businessman studied after his banking apprenticeship in Koblenz, Toronto, Lille, and Harvard and then worked in banking and industry.
Niklas is a strong promoter of gender balance at ENGIE Deutschland and remarks “In the business world, I am one of many men, but at home, I am the only one. As a father of two wonderful daughters, it is essential to me that women have equal opportunities and freedoms as men. Sadly, I still meet men who do not see it this way and push women into the background. For me, all individuals - with their unique and beautiful differences - are at the center.”

Jeremy Stockdale, Founder and CEO Ylead

Jeremy founded Ylead to support and challenge other leaders to find their purpose and create environments where people can come to work with authenticity, dignity and fulfilment, because they are cared for, nurtured, rewarded and feel psychologically safe.
Jeremy works with organisations which share his beliefs that creating inclusive environments where all employees can thrive, is both a moral and a business imperative - and that modern, inclusive leaders hold the key to making this a sustainable reality.
Having more women in leadership positions - and more leaders generally leading inclusively with humanity - will make the world a better place.
Jeremy’s purpose, therefore, is to create Gender Unity through Gender Advocacy because we need - and deserve - more purposeful, inclusive and responsible leaders.
