Creating a culture of safety and security in your library

Cost: $55, includes lunch

Dr. Steve Albrecht, PHR, CPP, BCC, CTM will be the keynote. His presentation will focus on practical tools to keep your staff safe, developing policy, and dealing with challenging and threatening patrons.

Jodie Layne, activist and founder of Safer Spaces Winnipeg, will present on "Libraries as safer spaces," including defining, "What is a safe space" and how to use victim-centered responses in order to help patrons feel safe at our libraries.

Eva Davis, director of Canton Public Library, will share with participants best practices for working with community groups to create public events for any special population to make all feel welcome in your library.

This project is supported, in part, by the Library of Michigan with federal funds from the institute of Museum and Library Services.
