Details:"What is the nature of the interface of structure and viscera and how does it impact the practice of Structural Integration?" - Jan Sultan

In this class we will examine the intricate interrelationships of the neck and head that underlie Ida P. Rolf's 7th Session.

In the context of competent musculoskeletal and biopsychosocial care, visceral restrictions can be a significant underlying issue (Primary Lesion) involved with physical compensation and dysbalance. The inclusion of organs and membranes into the SI Practitioner's critical thinking, troubleshooting, and hands-on technique, deepens the therapeutic container for integration. With systems anatomy in mind, SVCC addresses these local cranio/cervical events, appreciably expanding the specificity of our application of the manual therapy component.

SVCC primarily balances membranous tension associated with the craniosacral system and it's neighboring hard frame components (The Container and The Contents). In this way, neuroarticular and neuromyofascial considerations related to the cranium, sacrum, neck, jaw, and face will be addressed. The goal is simply systems interrelationships.

Appropriate for beginners and seasoned SI practitioners alike, this class is only being offered to Rolfers, Structural Integrators and practitioners who value IPR's approach to facilitate the inclusion of Dr. Rolf's recipe as foundational context.

Jan Sultan first trained with Ida Rolf in 1969 and was invited by her to start teaching in 1975. Jan took his first visceral class with Jean-Pierre Barral in 1987. A voracious student and lifelong learner, Jan hasstudied manual therapeutics of the organs, membranes and nervous system over a lifetime. Having both studied Visceral Manipulation/Osteopathy with French Osteopaths Didier Prat DO, Alain Croibier DO, Olivier Bazin DO, and Jean-Pierre Barral DO directly, Jan and Bruce will provide a broad spectrum of experience, theory and techniques to promote systemic motion continuity across the structural-visceral continuum.

Fascinated by the interrelationships between the container and the contents, Bruce Schonfeld was Certified in Rolfing Structural Integration in 1994. He has taken RISI's Advanced Training three times. Bruce has studied Visceral Osteopathy since 1996. Bruce took his first class with Jean-Pierre Barral in 2000 and has logged 300+ hours J-P directly. Having both studied Visceral Manipulation/Osteopathy with French Osteopaths Didier Prat DO, Alain Croibier DO, Olivier Bazin DO, and Jean-Pierre Barral DO directly, Bruce and Jan will provide a broad spectrum of experience, theory and techniques to promote systemic motion continuity across the structural-visceral continuum.
