The City of Northglenn, a dynamic municipality located just north of Denver, is looking for an energetic and outgoing individual to fill a Utility Plant Operator position at our Water Treatment Facility. This is a full-time position as a certified Water Treatment Facility Operator in the Utilities Division of the Public Works Department.

Position requires working independently on rotating 12-hour shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays

Responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of our 14 MGD water treatment plant. Tasks comprise of reading meters, taking samples of raw and partially treated water, operating pumps, overseeing the safe and efficient operation of water filters, chemical feeders and other related equipment.

While daily tasks are primarily routine in nature, the candidate will be expected to demonstrate good judgment in correcting problem situations. The candidate will exhibit willingness to complete job tasks using established procedures and share ideas that could assist in optimizing the plant. Operators work directly under the supervision of the Chief Plant Operator.

The top candidate will demonstrate they have the ability to communication proficiency, conduct themselves in an ethical manner, follow directions while taking initiative in certain situations and be able to learn new skills. Punctuality is a must. Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Access and SCADA will be used daily, training will be provided in these systems as necessary.



Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma (or equivalent).
Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license with a good driving record.

Two years of experience in water treatment facility operations working with SCADA. College level courses in chemistry, mathematics or related fields, the ability to perform math/chemistry calculations and laboratory testing procedures.

Colorado Water Professional (CWP) Certification in water is REQUIRED. Candidate without a CWP, must be able to obtain the certificate within six months of hire, training materials and exam fee will be provided by the city. Must be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification within six months of employment, training and exam will be provided by the city.

Starting salary range will commensurate with experience and current level of Water
Treatment Facility Operator certification as follows:

Level "A" certification - $52,005-$56,875/year - Full Range ends at $69,402
Level "B" certification - $46,614-$50,982/year - Full Range ends at $62,209
Level "C" certification - $43,047-$47,080/year - Full Range ends at $57,449
Level "D" certification/Trainee - $39,753-$43,479/year - Full Range ends at $53,054

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
