Centennial Water and Sanitation District, serving the community of Highlands Ranch, CO, is seeking a motivated individual to fill a Lead Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator position. Applicants must have a positive attitude and have the desire to work in a strong team environment.

The successful candidate will be the Lead Operator for the Marcy Gulch Wastewater Treatment Plant (MGWWTP), which is currently undergoing significant upgrades to meet advanced nutrient removal standards. These upgrades provide a unique opportunity to participate in the startup and optimization of the new Marcy Gulch Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Duties for this position include performing a variety of detail-oriented tasks for the efficient and effective operation of the wastewater treatment facilities and systems. The Lead WWTP Operator will be responsible for supervising and inspecting the work of assigned Operators, and temporary staff. The Lead WWTP Operator will monitor the performance of all equipment associated with the treatment process by conducting routine visual inspections, interpreting instrument readings, and performing and interpreting lab results.


Qualifications:
At a minimum, applicants must have passed their Colorado “D” Wastewater exam or be able to obtain a “D” Wastewater certification within 6 months of hire via testing or reciprocity. More advanced wastewater certifications are preferred. Applicants must have a minimum of five years progressive experience working in the water and wastewater field. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required and a bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology or an engineering science is preferred. Applicants must have a strong understanding of chemistry, biology, hydraulic, mechanical, and electronic concepts as they relate to water and wastewater treatment. Applications must have a strong knowledge of State and Federal water quality regulations. A combination of experience, certification and education will be considered.

This position has standard working hours and may be required to report during non-scheduled hours. Applicants must have a valid Colorado driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record. Pre-employment drug screening and background checks, including driving record, will be conducted.
