This position is responsible for supervising the day-to-day work activities of the Big Dry Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility, Reclaimed Water Treatment Facility, and farming operations on City owned farm properties along with privately owned farms. The incumbent must possess and maintain a thorough understanding of all aspects of wastewater treatment and regulations, reclaimed water treatment and regulations, Biosolids treatment/disposal and land application regulations, and related industry best management practices. Incumbent will oversee all aspects of treatment and be listed as the Operator in Responsible Charge over all programs.
This position requires knowledge in Department of Transportation regulations and site-specific storm water regulations.

The incumbent must possess the ability to facilitate various workgroups associated with the facilities with clear direction, and the ability to work within the Utilities Operations Division and communicate with the Collections Superintendent, Water Distribution Superintendent, Water Plant Superintendent, Utilities Operations Manager, and the Director of Public Works and Utilities. Work will be performed with wide latitude for independent judgment and action, and reviewed by the Utilities Operations Manager through observation, conferences, reports, and achievement of desired objectives. Position fills in for the Utilities Operations Manager in his or her absence. This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to federally mandated random drug and alcohol testing.

Qualifications:
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS/PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and Certifications
Required:

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Public Administration, Business or related field
Ten years progressively responsible experience in utility operations in a Wastewater Treatment Facility
Three (3) years of supervisory experience
Two (2) years of experience with budget development and management
State of Colorado Class A Wastewater License (if out of state, must be able to obtain reciprocity before hire)
Current valid driver's license and continual maintenance of a safe driving record
Preferred:
Five (5) or more years of experience operating a Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) Treatment Plant of comparable complexity and size (11 MGD)
Master's degree in Biology, Public Administration, Business or related field
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
