The Utilities Specialist II - Meter Shop position is a skilled position in the area of Utility Systems Field Operations and repair, which primarily involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the City of Westminster's utilities systems. The incumbent's responsibility in the Cross Connection Control Program is assuring compliance with city code and state regulations under direction of the Utilities Specialist III. This position requires high public contact in all types of situations. It is a mandatory requirement of this position to work overtime, take weekend duty, and be on-call for emergency work such as snow removal, water breaks, and sewer backups. Must be able to respond within thirty minutes when on-call. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Qualifications:
Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and Certifications
Required:

Graduation from high school or GED
Must possess a AWWA, or ABPA Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certificate within one (1) year of employment
Must be able to obtain and maintain a ABPA Cross Connection Control Specialist Certificate within one (1) year of employment
Three (3) years' experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water and sewer lines and/or systems
Must currently possess a class II Water Distribution Certificate and be able to obtain a class III Water Distribution Certificate within one year of employment
Valid Driver License and maintenance of a safe driving record for continued employment
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver License with tanker and air brake endorsement within 90 days of employment
Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical upon hire and every two years of continued employment
It is a mandatory requirement of this position to work overtime, take weekend duty, and be on-call for emergency work such as snow removal, water breaks, and sewer backups.

Preferred:
AWWA, or ABPA Cross Connection Control Specialist Certificate
Class IV Water Distribution Certification
Previous experience in backflow prevention
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
