Loudoun Water, located in Ashburn VA is a public utility that provides water and wastewater service to customers in Loudoun County. We are seeking a Community Systems Plant Operator Apprentice who will assist with operating and maintaining water, wastewater, and on-site treatment facilities along with their associated distribution and collection systems. Essential functions include:
• Reading, interpreting, and executing all facility and department requirements, including adhering to all Operations and Maintenance Manuals, regulatory permits, and Loudoun Water Standing Operating Procedures.
• Conducting basic procedures, general housekeeping, and preventive maintenance on the facility’s equipment, building, and grounds. This includes making general repairs and adjustments as needed.
• Operating valves, pumps, gates, and other controls and equipment within the associated with the treatment process. This includes exercising associated distribution system valves.
• Performing bench tests on collected samples to help monitor confirm, and adjust the associated treatment process. This includes samples collected from the distribution and collection system.

Qualifications:
Requirements: High School graduate (or equivalent). Experience in the operation and maintenance of water, wastewater, and/or water reclamation facilities is preferred.

Special Requirements: The ability to obtain at least one of the following licenses within two years; Virginia State Class 4 or above Wastewater Works Operator License, Virginia Class 4 or above Waterworks Operator License, and Virginia Alternative Onsite Sewage System Operator License. Possession of a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Possession of or ability to obtain certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within six (6) months of employment. Work an on-call schedule and overtime as required to carry out job responsibilities and duties. This position is deemed Essential per the LW staffing policy and requires working during inclement weather or other emergencies.
