Our bright red trucks and vehicles serve not only as the face of our organization but are also a critical tool in getting our work done. Without our fleet, our operations team would not be able to do what they do best- provide efficient and reliable water and wastewater service to our customers.

We are currently seeking a forward-thinking Fleet & Facilities Supervisor to lead the maintenance of the District’s fleet of vehicles, heavy equipment (trailers, portable generators, loaders, skid steer, excavator etc.) and small equipment (valve box cleaners, steamers etc.). This is a hands-on role and will also perform routine preventive maintenance, including service and repairs to company vehicles and equipment, and will coordinate outsourcing of repairs when necessary. The position will utilize the technology of a fleet maintenance management system (FMMS) to track maintenance of our vehicles which is a huge component of minimizing district risk and keeping our employees and customers safe. This customer service focused role also coordinates and completes maintenance and repair of District facilities.

The Day to Day:
LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION
• Directs and coordinates the daily work of Fleet & Facilities within the Field Operations department; Assigns and prioritizes personnel to maintenance and repair activities and inspects work for compliance with prescribed operational procedures and methods.
• Supervises, trains, instructs, and evaluates the work of assigned staff; Establishes performance requirements and personal development goals through formal systems and informal feedback; regularly monitors employee performance and provides coaching for performance improvement and development; Assures continuous support and follow-up with all Field Operations and District staff; Completes annual performance evaluations of direct reports.
• Provides daily leadership and works with staff to ensure an environment that supports the Department’s goals and objectives and the District’s mission, vision and values. Leads skilled and semi-skilled personnel within scope of Department responsibilities and provides technical assistance; Works with staff to achieve optimized and efficient operations thru employee empowerment and engagement; Resolves work problems as they arise.
• Participates in the selection and training of staff and provides or coordinates ongoing staff training to ensure safe and efficient performance.
• Manages daily schedule and time approval for direct report, approves and manages time, approves Purchasing Cards and Invoices.
• Assists in the preparation of operating budget recommendations and monitors work activities and expenditures to control costs; authorizes the requisition and purchase of equipment and materials per District protocols.
• Supervises and participates in developing, implementing and evaluating work processes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), systems, staffing levels, and procedures to achieve District goals, Department goals, objectives and meet work standards; Participates in the formulation of department goals.
• Prepares and/or reviews and maintains a wide variety of written reports and records, including work project analyses, surveys, work order progress and status reports, maintenance requests, equipment specifications, and operating costs.
• Researches, evaluates, and recommends new technologies, equipment, work processes to improve productivity, efficiency and employee safety; educates and trains staff on new and revised approaches, equipment and work processes.
• Routinely supervises the work on large scale jobs and jobs that are highly urgent or of significant customer impact.
• Coordinates activities with other District departments to identify, define and resolve system problems or emergencies; Works cooperatively with subordinates, co-workers, peers, managers, outside vendors, and contractors. Works to create positive, professional communications within the Field Operations department and between departments within the District.
• Required to follow all District safety and security policies and wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by the job duties.
• Responsible for carrying out the District’s safety program by ensuring employees follow safety practices in work methods and procedures; reinforces proper safety procedures while working in dangerous situations; educates employees on safe work habits and potential hazards presented by their work environment, recommends changes for improving safety to Safety Coordinator.
• Coordinates work cooperatively with other Departments and outside vendors.

ROUTINE VEHICLE MAINTENANCE
• General light vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance, including but not limited to changing oil, check/change all vehicle lights, check/change fluid levels, change filters, rotate and balance tires, change brake pads and fluid, perform tune-ups and all other preventive maintenance service to District cars, pickups, trucks and heavy equipment.
• Repair steering and suspension components, replace hydraulic lines, and replace and repair tires.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance work on light vehicles and heavy equipment based upon maintenance schedule or as circumstances permit.
• Completes minor body repair work on vehicles.
• Maintain a clean and orderly shop.
• Pick up parts when needed.
• Completes welding projects.
• Order and disposal of surplus vehicles and equipment; organizes auction through Public Surplus Auction.
• Make recommendations for Vehicles and equipment needing replaced.

FLEET MANAGEMENT
• Assists with management of fleet vehicles and fleet facilities, including management of fuel storage and dispensing system.
• Manages contracts and approves invoices for payment.
• Coordinates annual DOT inspections on Heavy Fleet.
• Maintains the inventory for Fleet.
• Assist in budgeting for Fleet
• Assists with coordinating the work order process for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and preventative services and repairs on equipment and vehicles, including glass repair.
• Coordinates dealer warranty work.
• Assists Field Operations Manager with managing vehicle life-cycle program which includes acquisition and disposition of vehicles.
• Responsible for registration and tag renewal for all fleet vehicles.
• Responsible for the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) Division of Oil and Public Safety permitting for all District-owned aboveground storage fuel tanks (including at treatment facilities). Coordinates and oversees annual inspections (outsourced), monthly tracking inspections (District-staff) and prepares and submits ullage reports and documentation for aboveground fueling stations.
• Manages the fleet management maintenance system (FMMS); ensure that all maintenance is being tracked and completed in a timely manner. Coordinates system information with the Safety Coordinator and Field Operations Managers.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining the Fleet Manual.

FACILITIES MAINTENANCE
• Assists in the day-to-day operations of facilities management. Schedules and coordinates the work of personnel and contractors engaged in the maintenance, landscaping, snow removal, repair and remodeling of buildings and facilities, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems etc.; ensures the timely completion of predictive and preventive maintenance programs; schedules and coordinates activities with user departments and divisions.
• Responds to facility complaints referring unusual situations to Field Operations Manager.
• Coordinates work, oversee contracts with vendors and approve invoices for payment.
• Meets with internal staff to evaluate required maintenance and workflow.
• Assist in Budgeting for Facilities.
• Performs minor repairs at the Facilities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Qualifications
• High School Diploma required.
• Automotive Technology or Mechanic Associate’s degree or relevant trade school certificate and five years automotive repair or equivalent experience and/or training required; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred as this role will supervise two employees.
• Maintains or has the ability to obtain six (or more) National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications within 2 years of employment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, permitting requirements, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write SOPs, routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Proficient in use of office equipment. Some Information System experience necessary. Computer proficiency required; Windows, Word, and Excel.
• Experience working with Cityworks or other CMMS preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to communicate effectively and cooperatively with vendors, contractors and other outside entities.
• Ability to multi-task. Organizational skills and ability to prioritize develop directives and deadlines and manage process of all projects. Ability to research and resolve issues, work with minimal supervision.
• Pleasant attitude and an ability to work honestly, and with integrity required.
• The ability to work as a member of a team is a must.
• Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's license and be insurable under District's standards.
• Must obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within the first six (6) months of employment.

Comments:
This role will work Monday – Friday, generally from 7:00 – 3:30.
The pay range for this role is $29.74 -$37.16 - $44.61. Hiring range depends on qualifications.
