Engineer Associate
$29.37/hourly (minimum) up to $35.82/hourly (midpoint)
Engineer
$72,800.00/annual (min) - $91,748.80/annual (mid)
Engineer Senior
$79,498/annual (minimum) - $100,953.00/annual (midpoint)

Qualifications:
Position Summary
The Engineering - Water Treatment Section works closely with Operations & Maintenance to develop solutions to treatment issues at three drinking water plants and a water recycling plant. This position offers opportunities to work on complex issues ranging from capital project delivery, to water quality issues including lead reduction, to working across divisions on water quality issues.

Engineer Associate
Under direct supervision, assists with planning studies and project design from concept to completion on small or entry type projects. Assist on maintenance on existing facilities, models, systems, and equipment analyzing/diagnosing issues and improvements through field investigations, testing, and engineering. Assist on treatment process optimization and studies including water quality analysis and modeling.
Engineer
Under general supervision, completes planning studies and project design from concept to completion on small or entry type projects including project management, development of contract documents, bid/proposal documents, and services during construction. Assist on maintenance of existing facilities, models, systems, and equipment analyzing/diagnosing issues and improvements through field investigations, testing, and engineering. Assist on treatment process optimization and studies including water quality analysis and modeling.
Engineer Senior
A subject matter expert responsible for completing project design on complex and large projects including project management, development of contract documents, bid/proposal documents, and services during construction. Assist on maintenance of existing facilities, systems, and equipment analyzing and diagnosing issues and improvements through field investigations, testing, and engineering. Assist on treatment process optimization and responsible for studies including water quality analysis and modeling.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Engineer Associate
• Assist with planning studies, project design and maintenance improvement projects from conception through construction.
• Analyze routine technical, engineering and operational problems.
• Collect data through field observation/measurement, laboratory use, and other forms of research and analyses.
• Assist with the preparation of planning studies, contract plans and specifications. Coordinate construction inspection and contract administration.
• Analyze and gather data to assist identifying engineering and planning problems.
• Perform investigations, calculations and sketches necessary to complete planning studies, finished designs and construction specifications on less complex projects.
• Perform related work as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Engineer
• Apply engineering principles on water treatment processes. Perform design management to improve or maintain water treatment performance within the internal Denver Water goals and overall USEPA regulations. Manage and complete planning studies, project design of capital and maintenance improvement projects from conception through construction.
• Identify and analyze routine and complex technical, engineering and operational problems. Review and perform related studies, calculations and sketches.
• Coordinate and collect data through field observation/measurement, laboratory use, and other forms of research and analyses.
• Review, plan, and perform pricing and costing activities and quantity takeoffs/estimates. Assembles, and checks data.
• Review and prepare planning studies, contract plans and specifications. Coordinate construction inspection and contract administration.
• Analyze engineering and planning problems and recommends solutions.
• Perform investigations, calculations and sketches necessary to complete planning studies, designs, and construction specifications on less complex projects.
• This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
• Perform related work as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Engineer Senior
• Apply advanced engineering principles on all types of water treatment processes including treatment of alternative and impaired water sources. Perform design management of large and complex projects to improve or maintain water treatment performance within the internal Denver Water goals and overall USEPA regulations.
• Ability to solve operational problems on projects, and responsible for developing timely design solutions. Serve as a key technical staff specialist for the Division in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes for an assigned area of responsibility.
• Design and coordinate critical engineering projects. Propose and implement documentation and programs to measure, track, monitor, and improve progress.
• Serve as project manager for a variety of engineering projects often in a highly specialized area.
• Monitor field inspections, resolve disputes, and perform contract administration duties.
• Assign and direct work of professional and technical personnel within an assigned unit and provide technical guidance and quality control checks.
• Manage consultants, design contracts, and provide design direction for construction phases of projects.
• Coordinate scope and progress of projects with peers both in and outside the Division.
• Participate in field inspection and contract administration.
• Maintain liaison and represent the department at meetings. Resolve disputes with outside public and private organizational representatives.
• Responsible for coordinating activities across divisions and sections required to complete projects in a timely manner.
• This position may have formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
• Perform related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience for Engineer Associate
• Bachelor of Science from an accredited college or university with a focus on water treatment processes.
• No related work experience.
• Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.
Licenses, Registration, and Certifications
• Must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam administered by the National Council for Engineering Examiners within 6 months of hire.
• Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class 'R' Colorado driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
Education and Experience for Engineer
• Bachelor of Science from an accredited college or university in applicable engineering field with a focus on water treatment processes.
• Minimum 4 years of related work experience.
• Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.
Licenses, Registration and Certification
• Professional Engineer License in the State of Colorado.
• Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class 'R' Colorado driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
Education and Experience for Engineer Senior:
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in applicable engineering field with a focus on water treatment processes.
• Minimum 8 years of related work experience, which include 4 years as a licensed engineer.
• Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.
Licenses, Registration, and Certifications
• Professional Engineer licensed in the State of Colorado.
• Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R’ Colorado driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
