GENERAL STATEMENT/ ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs a variety of semi-skilled duties related to the operation and maintenance of the District's interceptor system and wastewater treatment facilities which range from 8in. to 97in. sewer mains over a 750 square mile service area. Works under the direction of a Transmission Supervisor or higher classified employee.

TYPICAL DUTIES:
Operates powered equipment, hand and power tools used in the operation and maintenance of the District's Central Treatment Plant, Northern Treatment Plant, and Interceptor System.
Assists in the high pressure jet/vac cleaning and CCTV inspection of the interceptor system.
Collects wastewater samples for the District's annual charge program. Operates and maintains automatic sampling equipment. Assists in the flow metering and sampling of wastewater for the Districts Industrial Pretreatment and Regulatory programs.
Operates dual axle dump truck, mobile crane truck, heavy duty/all-terrain forklift, front end loader, skid steer, and light duty tractor with attachments.
Operates the high pressure jet/vac truck, backhoe, and perform line locates in the absence of a CSO.
Servicing various types of equipment that includes checking and maintain proper fluid level and lubricating the moving parts and wearing surfaces.
Performs light duty industrial painting using brushes and rollers.
Performs and provides support to various safety activities such as vehicle traffic control and confined space entry. Cleans interceptor facilities and equipment such as structures, automotive vehicles and samplers. Performs grounds work such as watering, adjusting and repairing sprinklers, mowing grounds and spraying. Operates gates and valves associated with performing their maintenance duties.
Cleans District facilities such as metering vaults and diversion structures through the use of a trailer mounted pressure washer and mild detergents.
Assist the CSO in the installation of traffic control devices.
Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or GED required. A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker and air brake endorsements and a Class 1 Collection System Operator certification or ability to obtain both within 12 months of appointment. One-year experience in construction work or wastewater collection and/or experience as a Qualified Rigger and Signalperson, Qualified Overhead Crane Operator, Qualified Mobile Crane Operator, and Confined Space training. Ability to read procedures, SDS precautions and other similar type documents. Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations and use measurement devices.

Desired Qualifications
Experience and/or training in equipment operation, mechanical work, electrical work, or wastewater treatment. Experience in reading drawings, charts, and/or flow diagrams, and basic record keeping.
