Todd Creek Village Metro District is looking for a water treatment operator with a class C certificate and a minimum of one year experience in water treatment.
Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week with on-call as needed

Salary range: Water Treatment Operator Class C $42,600-$46,560 DOQ

Summary: Under general supervision, performs maintenance and operations of treatment plant machines and equipment to purify and clarify water for human consumption. Maintains and operates the District's water treatment system, including emergency assistance with other divisions as needed.

Series Characteristics:
Water Treatment Plant "C" operator is a journey level classification. This position will not generally make decisions independently about the execution of work but will be able to perform assigned duties without need of direct supervision or specific procedures being consistently outlined.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following.
Performs all functions necessary to operate and maintain electric motors, pumps, valves, and other equipment necessary for the treatment and distribution of water to district customers.
Ability to calculate dosages of chemicals into water and adjusts automatic devices that inject specified amounts of chemicals into water treatment or distribution systems to disinfect, stabilize pH, and clarify water.
Monitors water quality by verifying daily lab analysis and calibrations of instruments inline/lab equipment.
Completes daily water and wastewater reports, records, and data logs.
Assists with repairs to water and raw water lines, valve boxes, fire hydrants, manholes, metering equipment and other similar water and raw water assets.
Monitors and manages routine vehicle maintenance on district vehicles and equipment, and report needed maintenance to supervisor.
Follows the safe work practices and procedures as set forth by the district. Keep well maintained and clean work area inside treatment facility and surrounding perimeter.
Maintains an effective, courteous working relationship with supervisors, co-workers, representatives from other agencies, and public.

Education/Experience:
Any combination of education and experience may be considered for the position. A typical way to demonstrate the education and experience necessary for the position is:
Water Treatment Operator II: A High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a minimum of one year of experience as a Water Treatment Operator I or two years of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance.

Knowledge and Abilities:
Basic knowledge of chemistry, microbiology, mathematics, and hydrology; laws and regulations regarding water treatment and water quality; pumps, valves, motors, filters, backflow prevention devices, piping, and plumbing structures; chemical analysis and testing techniques; and personal computers including spreadsheets, word processing, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software.

Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions; keep accurate records; use a variety of tools and equipment; perform heavy manual labor; perform unskilled or semi-skilled tasks related to water treatment plant operation; operate vehicles, equipment, and stationary mechanical equipment; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; work independently.

Certificates and Licenses:
A valid Colorado driver’s license with a good driving history. This position may require the incumbent to occasionally work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Water Operator II: Colorado Water Treatment Plant Operator Class C required. The ideal candidate must have or be able to obtain a Water Distribution Class II certificate and Industrial Wastewater Class C certificate.
