GENERAL STATEMENT/ ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs skilled and unskilled work and tasks required to operate and control the performance of liquid and solids stream unit process equipment. Works under the direction of a Treatment Supervisor or Assistant Treatment Superintendent. May be assigned work by a Plant Operator – Lead.




TYPICAL DUTIES:
Monitors wastewater unit processes and support systems equipment.
Makes control adjustments of unit process variables to meet target performance.
Conducts field measurements, observations and analyses required for monitoring.
Follows Standard Operating Procedures for support systems equipment and unit processes.
Inspects, adjusts equipment and places equipment in and out of service.
Adjusts unit processes equipment and facility systems as necessary to meet performance goals.
Conducts Planned Maintenance (PM) activity, as applicable for the assigned facility.
SPECIAL NOTE: Must complete the Basic Operations Module requirements of the Wastewater Treatment Operations Staff Training Program, including obtaining certifications, within specified timeframe.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Ability to interpret data trends, comprehend written technical procedures and manuals, and ability to do mathematics using decimals and fractions. Must meet minimum required Accuplacer test scores as administered by Red Rocks Community College in arithmetic, reading and writing.

Must meet one of the following requirements:


Current/Active Colorado Wastewater Operator D certification (or higher)
Current/Active Wastewater certification meeting Colorado D level through reciprocity
College coursework which meets equivalency for the Basic Operations Module requirements of the District's Wastewater Treatment Operations Staff Training Program (transcript review required)
Relevant Associate's degree (or higher). Relevant fields include water quality management, biology, chemistry, environmental science, and engineering. Additional fields of study must be approved for relevancy via District review.

Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in water quality management, biology, chemistry, environmental science, engineering, or other related field. Current/Active Wastewater Operator D certification (or higher). Vocational, technical, military training and/or college coursework. Hands–on experience monitoring technical systems/equipment and following Standard Operating Procedures for complex processes. Proven ability to conduct field measurements, observations and analyses. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills sufficient to perform equipment inspections and adjustments as well as planned maintenance activities. Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills sufficient to interact effectively in a team based environment. Strong work ethic with proven success operating autonomously supporting high safety standards/practices.

Evidence of active interest in developing expanded skills/understanding in wastewater and process technology via taking on additional work tasks or specific coursework in these areas. Demonstrated track record of quickly mastering new skills required for changing work assignments. Proven success in a collaborative team environment requiring constructive resolution of conflicts and calm under pressure. A demonstrated "big picture" process view. Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task in a high-activity work environment
