POSITION: Water Resources Maintenance Worker I - Seasonal SALARY: $16.15/hr.

Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties in the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant. Looking for someone who likes to learn in a challenging and stimulating work environment, upward mobility based on your motivation to learn. This position is trainable.

Example of Duties:
Make scheduled wastewater treatment plant rounds observing plant operations, performing a variety of duties pertaining to wastewater treatment and noting plant maintenance needs. Monitor plant functions by reading gauges, graphs, meters, and control panels and SCADA system. Collect samples and perform routine laboratory tests, document results and take appropriate actions. Assist in a variety of maintenance and repairs of plant equipment and facilities including lubricating, painting, rebuilding and replacing treatment system parts and components. Clean and maintain tanks, screens, filters, pipes and pumps. Assist in inspecting and adjusting field pumping stations. Identify and inform supervisor and co-workers of present and potential problems and hazards. Train in the techniques and practices of wastewater treatment in order to become certified or to increase certification. Operate equipment and vehicles to repair and maintain the plant grounds. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. This position may be exposed to fumes, pathogens, airborne particles and various chemicals, some of which may be toxic. Work environment includes exposure to various conditions including excessive noise and extreme heat or cold. Use of a respirator may be required for some tasks and the operator may have to work in confined spaces.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic principles of high school biology and chemistry as applied to wastewater treatment. Ability to conduct basic laboratory tests, maintain records and compile data into written reports, recognize and react to treatment process changes and demands. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow workers and supervisors. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to work weekends.


Qualifications:
Education and Training:
Completion of High School or equivalent including or supplemented by training or education in Natural Resources or other related fields.

Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid Colorado driver’s license with safe driving record. Ability to complete FEMA ICS 100 and IS 700 training within six (6) months of hire.
