The primary role of this position is in wastewater treatment facility operations and maintenance. The City is not only looking for experienced operators, but anyone interested in learning treatment operations from the ground up. We are looking for individuals who possess the utmost degree of integrity, dependability and reliability. We are also looking for critical and analytical thinking skills with the ability to come to well-reasoned conclusions and solutions. Wastewater operations personnel have the opportunity to learn instrumentation, automation, maintenance and/or water operations. This is a career-level position within Water and Wastewater Treatment that requires employees to be self-directed in their work approach, and to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and skills related to treatment plant operations and maintenance. Employees are also expected to support workforce flexibility by cross-training in wastewater operations, instrumentation and/or maintenance. Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade with course work in mathematics, chemistry, and biology, and one year of hands-on experience working with industrial operations, mechanical equipment maintenance, laboratory equipment and analysis, and or other job experience similar to water/wastewater operations. Special Qualification: Possession of a valid Colorado Driver's License. Possession of a Colorado Class D, C, or B Operators Certificate or the ability to obtain within two testing cycles from the date of hire. The certificate must be for Water Operations if assigned to the City’s water plants or Wastewater Operations if assigned to the City’s wastewater plant. Progressive Certification up to the “B” level must be demonstrated within four years of hire by employees assigned to operations as their area of emphasis. Progressive required maintenance training and/or certification must be demonstrated within four years of hire by employees assigned to maintenance as their area of emphasis.
