Colorado Centre Metro District, a small community southeast of Colorado Springs, Co has been serving the community since 1984. We provide our customers and community with the best economical and environmentally friendly water and sewer services, with 1131 service connections and a population of approximately 3675 people.
We are looking for an energetic and outgoing individual to fill in a Utility Water Treatment Operator/Distribution System Operator position. This is a full-time position as a certified Water Treatment Facility and Distribution System Operator.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma (or equivalent). Proof must be presented.
Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license with a good driving record, the district will investigate.
Cannot have any civil or criminal records, the district will investigate.
Drug tests will be required. This is a very sensitive position.
Must have a Colorado Water Professional (CWP) Certification (Level C) at the time of hire or be able to obtain the certificate within six months of hire.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the water filtration plant, water treatment plant, 3.0 MG water storage tank and all wells, distribution system, fire hydrants, valves, meters and all relevant equipment and infrastructure related to the production, treatment and delivery of safe drinking water to the district’s customers.
- Monitor chlorine residual levels daily at entry point and in the distribution system.
- Maintain records of water production, treatment, and chemical usage.
- Maintain records of wastewater collection system at jimmy camp creek meter station
- Sample water as required by the state Health Department and the monitoring schedule.
- Flush fire hydrants and blow-off valves annually to prevent stagnation of the water in the system.
- Clean out valve boxes and exercise valves to ensure they function properly.
- Inspect manhole visually, once per year, and perform maintenance of these and the lines, if necessary.
- Response to water & wastewater emergencies.
- Isolation of water lines in the event of water line ruptures.
- Be able to interpret and operate the District’s SCADA System.
- Monitor the water storage tank level and turn on/off wells as needed.
- Monitor the wastewater collection system flow at Jimmy Camp Creek meter station (Bradley Rd and Horizonview Dr.)
- Respond to alarms as necessary.
- Assist other technicians of the district with their areas of responsibility.
- Assist the administrative staff of the district when it requires enforcement of the district regulations for lack of payment on accounts.
- Connection and disconnection of residential water services.
- Installation and replacement of water meter transmitters and endpoints.
- Maintain the district service vehicle and equipment used to perform maintenance tasks in good working order.
- Response to all 811 locate notification.
- Follow the scheduling of the superintendent for the purpose of being on call during off-duty hours.
- Report to the Superintendent on all matters

Salary/Wage Amount or Range:
From $24hr to $28hr based on experience and current level of Water Treatment Facility Operator certification. There will be a trial period through the end of 2025. After that, per recommendation from the Superintendent and/or the District Manager, the salary will be adjusted
