The Police Data Initiatives and Analytics Strategy Officer works under general direction reporting directly to the Police Assistant Director. The position oversees the comprehensive and strategic approach in meeting the demands for data quality management and business analytics to assure policy and reporting are aligned with strategic goals and objectives within the Austin Police Department.

The incumbent for this position should have:
Considerable knowledge of research methods, design and statistical analysis.
Exceptional time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and responsibilities simultaneously.
Computer experience, including Microsoft applications and other software necessary to perform job functions.
Excellent command of grammar and the ability to write, edit, and proofread for accuracy.
Some experience with computer languages such as Phython, SQL, C/Ctt, Java

Qualifications:
Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in research methods, statistical analysis, criminological theory, sociology, or a related field, plus five (5) years of related experience, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Graduation with a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field may substitute for two (2) years of work experience.
