R2O is seeking an experienced and proactive Field Commissioning Liaison to coordinate the commissioning of multiple concurrent construction contracts involving two finished water pumping stations and a clearwell. These critical infrastructure components are part of a unified water distribution system, and the successful candidate will ensure all systems are tested, integrated, and transitioned into reliable operation in accordance with project specifications, regulatory standards, and operational requirements. This individual will be the responsible on-site party to carry out day-to-day activities, and will report directly to the Senior Commissioning Manager.
Salary Range: $70,000-$90,000/yr
Full-time, benefits-eligible, on-site, non-exempt.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support Commissioning of Treatment Systems
Assist in the startup and commissioning of water and wastewater treatment facilities, including filtration, disinfection, and sludge handling systems.
• Instrumentation & Controls Oversight
Help implement and test SCADA systems, distributed process control systems (DPCS), and instrumentation for automated plant operations.
• System Testing & Validation
Conduct performance testing of pumps, valves, chemical dosing systems, and other mechanical/electrical components to ensure compliance with design and regulatory standards.
• Documentation & Compliance Reporting
Prepare commissioning reports, test protocols, and regulatory documentation to demonstrate system readiness and adherence to environmental standards.
• Coordination with Stakeholders
Work closely with engineers, contractors, and plant operators to ensure smooth handover and integration of new systems into existing infrastructure.
• Training & Operational Support
Assist in training plant staff on newly commissioned systems and provide technical support during the transition to full operation.
• Safety & Environmental Standards
Ensure all commissioning activities follow OSHA safety guidelines and environmental regulations specific to water and wastewater operations.
• Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution
Identify and help resolve issues during commissioning, including process sequencing, equipment malfunctions, and control system errors.
Qualifications:
Must-have qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 8 years of field experience in commissioning or startup roles, with at least 5 years in water infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent construction contracts and coordinating across diverse project teams.
• Strong understanding of finished water pumping systems, clearwell operations, SCADA, and water quality standards.
• Familiarity with AWWA, EPA, OSHA, and other applicable codes and regulations.
Preferred qualifications:
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
• PMP or other project management certification.
• Experience with digital commissioning tools and asset management systems.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and system integration.
Comments:
Work Environment:
• Field-based role with regular travel between project sites.
• Occasional night or weekend work may be required during critical commissioning phases.
• Must be able to work in outdoor and construction environments.
