The city population was 7,077 at the 2010 United States Census. La Junta is located on the Arkansas River in southeastern Colorado, 60 miles east of Pueblo.

Under supervision of the Wastewater Supervisor, performs technical and supervisory work as Operator in directing and participating in the operation of wastewater treatment plant and laboratory.


Qualifications:
Any combination of experience and training equivalent to graduation from high school; Two years supervisory experience in the maintenance and operation of a wastewater treatment plant; Possess computer skills to include Windows, Word, Excel, and work order system software.
Possess a valid Colorado Drivers License.
Possession of a current Class B WWTP Operators Certification plus five years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a municipal wastewater treatment plant.
Must be able to respond to emergency calls within 15 minutes.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Participation in a random drug and alcohol testing program.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a current Collections 2, 3, or 4 by the State of Colorado strongly preferred, or possess ability to obtain a Collections 2 certification within2 years.
Possess a valid commercial driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one within one year of hire.
Have a basic understanding of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, PLC’s, electrical experience, and a familiarity with automated WWTP process control and operations.
