General Statement of Duties & Organizational Responsibilities

Performs a variety of technical engineering tasks in support of the planning, design, construction and modification of wastewater facilities. Works under the direction of the Real Property Administrator/Quality Control Coordinator.


Qualifications:
Engineering Technician I - Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school, supplemented by college level courses in mathematics and engineering. Three years' experience in civil engineering work, including experience in the operation of survey instruments, GPS units, construction inspection, materials testing, coordination of construction activities and other similar work. Demonstrated proficiency in reading/understanding construction plans and specifications. Good technical, mathematical, computer (Microsoft Office), and analytical skills, as well as good written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications
Associate's degree in civil engineering technology. Certification as an Engineering Technician. Construction management experience. Demonstrated competence in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Engineering Technician II - Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in civil engineering technology and five years' experience in civil engineering work, including the operation of survey instruments, GPS units, construction inspection, materials testing, coordination of construction activities and other similar work. Competence in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word and Excel. Good technical, mathematical, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills.

Equivalency
Equivalency equals two years of directly related professional experience for every year of education not completed. The stated experience requirement is in addition to any experience used to meet the education equivalency. For this position, in addition to the required five years or more of work civil engineering work, equivalency would be seven years of directly related experience without a degree.

Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and certification as a Professional Land Surveyor. Construction management experience with the ability to exercise independent judgment and direct the work of outside agencies and contractors. Demonstrated competence in Civil 3D as it relates to importing and manipulating survey data.
