Applications are currently being accepted for Administrative Analyst in the Torrance Police Department's Intelligence Detail. The Torrance Police Department's Intelligence Detail works to collect and analyze police intelligence involving all matters of potential concern to the Chief of Police. The goal of the Detail is to reduce criminal acts and apprehend suspects engaged in criminal activity, while providing professional and innovative police services. The Detail is involved in the construction of the Department's Critical Site Threat Assessment Project and acts as liaison for the Department to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Joint Terrorism Task Force.

As part of the Intelligence Detail, the Administrative Analyst prepares and organizes data for professional reports and/or presentations using various research resources; conducts analysis;
computes, interprets, and compiles various statistics; and organizes and delivers presentations. This position also prepares and monitors budgets and supports management/supervisory staff
with problem resolution, varied professional, confidential and specialized assignments.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills would be acceptable. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
A Bachelor's Degree from a college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field AND at least one-year of related professional experience.
OR
Two years of related college course work AND 4 years of progressively responsible administrative or analytical experience.

Ideal Candidate:
In addition to the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will:

-Find, compile, analyze, and validate credibility of information and data;
-Develop and test hypotheses, forecasts, and predictions regarding criminal activity;
-Assist in the development of tactical and strategic responses to criminal activity;
-Operate a variety of computer software applications, including mapping, graphing, charting, data-bases, spreadsheets, and others;
-Prepare and maintain a variety of data, records, reports, bulletins, and correspondence;
-Read, understand, interpret, and apply law enforcement codes and regulations;
-Communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively verbally and in writing;
-Make verbal presentations;
-Establish and maintain effective working relationships, including maintaining courteous. and cooperative behavior under adverse circumstances;
-Operate standard office equipment; and
-Possess knowledge of Social Media mining.

A Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, crime analysis, intelligence studies, homeland security, or data mining is highly desirable.
