This position performs tactical, strategic and administrative analysis under the direction of the Unit Supervisor. This is independent work conducting detailed research and analysis of confidential intelligence, crime data, and investigative information relating to law enforcement operations and programs and/or performing as lead analyst on specialized complex analytical tasks. To be successful in this position, the employee must demonstrate competency in data entry and retrieval skills, time management skills, basic to intermediate computer skills, general communication skills (both written and oral), inter-personal skills, customer service skills and problem solving skills.

Qualifications:
A valid Driver's License is required for this position.
Successful completion of the Florida Law Enforcement Analyst Academy -or- 240 hours of specialized training in the intelligence analysis or crime analysis field. Proof of successful completion must be provided with application.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional experience in intelligence and/or crime analysis. –or-
Seven (7) years professional experience in intelligence and/or crime analysis, and/or military intelligence.
Knowledge and ability to demonstrate predictive and other analytical techniques including but not limited to statistics, data exploration, game theory clustering, association rule and sequential pattern discovery, regression, deviation detection and link analysis is required.
Prior analytical training and demonstrated technical experience with computer systems/programs and/or databases and software to extract, analyze, and present data to include GIS tools, Crystal Reports, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access is required.
Must be agreeable to work varied hours, extended shifts, and be on-call as needed

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
Requests and receives information of a confidential nature.
Compiles, analyzes, and disseminates information essential to predicting criminal or public safety trends, patterns or problem areas requiring planning or action
Facilitates the exchange of crime pattern information among local law enforcement agencies and exercises independent judgment to ensure that accurate and reliable information is disseminated. Performs detailed research of crime data and analyzes information and data from a variety of standard and electronic sources. Researches priority areas as assigned
Collaborates in the development, implementation and evaluation of crime response and reduction strategies, goals and objectives. Measures progress against plans.
Develops implements and monitors crime analysis and response metrics in alignment with best practices.
Performs related work as required.
Demonstrates expertise in at least one law enforcement or analytical focus area Manages analytic projects, including the development, review, and delivery of a products Mentors new analyst on the crime analysis process and agency policies and procedures
