The Utilities Department Director is responsible for the overall management, direction, and long-range planning, of the resources and activities of the City of Ketchum Utilities Department including both the Water and Wastewater Divisions. The Director assures municipal water and wastewater systems operate properly and efficiently while meeting the current and future needs of the City.

• Oversees the overall operation of the City of Ketchum Water and Wastewater Divisions including management and supervision of all employees and assets in the Department.
• Evaluates, recommends, and initiates improvements to water and wastewater systems, including the wastewater treatment plant. Reviews and approves plans for additions and improvements to water and wastewater systems.
• Ensures compliance with all State and Federal regulations related to water and wastewater systems.
• Determines and implements department programs, policies, and procedures and conducts long-term planning in support of the City’s water and wastewater needs and goals, including sustainability.
• Oversees water and sewer user fees and rate structures and recommends revisions as necessary.
• Pursues grant funding opportunities to support system operations and expansion, including compilation of grant applications and post-award reporting.
• Prepares and maintains department operating and capital budgets with overall enterprise fund responsibility.
• Maintains effective correspondence with other City departments and the public.
• Produces reports and keeps records relating to water and wastewater systems.
• Attends meetings, training seminars, and similar events as necessary to maintain current knowledge of industry trends.
• Prepares reports and presents information to the public and City Council
• Responds to after-hours call-out's during emergencies.
• May perform the duties of subordinates in their absence.
• Performs other duties as assigned or needed.


Qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited university with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Sanitary or Environmental Engineering, or Business or Public Administration or the equivalent in experience and knowledge. Experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of a water/wastewater utility including five (5) years of supervisory experience.

• Must hold state of Idaho Class II (or higher) Water and Wastewater Treatment Operators License

• Software working knowledge of SCADA software.

• Possession of valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
