Widefield Water and Sanitation District located in the Southern portion of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is seeking an entry level “Operator in Training” to work in the Sanitation Department. This position will involve the daily operation and maintenance of secondary wastewater treatment facilities, collection system, equipment, and grounds in a professional, competent, and efficient manner. Operator trainees work under the guidance of a certified wastewater operator.
Minimum Qualifications-A high school diploma or GED. A CDL License is required or must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment. Basic knowledge of maintaining and repairing pumps, motors, valves, piping and other mechanical related equipment is desired. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work in adverse weather conditions.
All applicants considered for employment must be able to pass a full background check, drug/alcohol screening, and pre-employment physical.
Maximum starting pay is $16.50 per hour plus medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, retirement, two weeks paid vacation, and ten paid holidays per year.
This position must obtain a Wastewater Class D or Collections Grade 1 Certification within one-year of employment. This position has the ability to advance to a Wastewater Class A or Collections Grade 4 Certification level which pays up to $32.50 per hour.
