The South Adams County Water & Sanitation District (SACWSD), dedicated to providing affordable and sustainable water resources to its customers, is seeking a qualified individual for a Water Operator.

This position operates and maintains all plant equipment, processes and facilities associated with the District’s potable system and non-potable dual irrigation system including, preventative maintenance, advanced water treatment processes utilizing GAC for VOC removal, pumping, and flow monitoring. In addition, the District is embarking on a 50 million dollar treatment addition to include innovative technology of pellet treatment for hardness. The Klein Water Treatment Facility is rated as a State of Colorado Class A facility.

The operator position performs routine and emergency operations and maintenance work including, but not limited to; repairing pumps/motors, controlling and adjusting chemical feeds, responding to alarms, setting appropriate flow and pressure controls on the potable and dual irrigation systems as well facility and building upkeep.



Qualifications:
Qualified candidates should have a High School Diploma OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of Colorado Class D Water Operator and Class 1 Distribution Systems Certification required. Class A Water Operator Certification preferred. A valid, current Colorado Driver’s License is required.

Solid mechanical, troubleshooting, time management, and communication skills are required. Enthusiasm and desire to learn and master unique technology (pellet treatment) as well as work collaboratively in providing the best level of water quality to the District residents.

Must be able to respond to inquiries and emergencies as well as participate in the on-call rotation as necessary (currently scheduled every fifth week). Must be computer proficient in MS products and in water treatment SCADA technology. The Klein water treatment facility is automated and staffed 8 hours per day. While night shift and/or response to alarms after 5 p.m. may occur occasionally, it is not a routine part of the schedule.

Must be able to lift 60 lbs occasionally and work in a variety of facilities, temperatures and weather conditions.
