The Operator provides for the safe operation of water and wastewater facilities in compliance with Federal, State and Local requirements for the operation of water treatment, distribution, storage facilities and wastewater collection. Responsible for the operations, routine servicing and care of a wide variety of specialized equipment, including pumps, motors, chemical preparation, control of equipment and monitoring equipment. Maintains records of operations, completes and submits routine and special reports as assigned. Performs related field and laboratory tests, which are necessary to monitor and control the facilities, and makes necessary adjustments to equipment, process and chemical feeders. Operates and assists in repairs to water/wastewater systems and plants, responds to emergency call outs. Experience in the water and wastewater treatment industry is preferred.
Qualifications:
Must be 21 or older. GED or higher. Must have a valid driver's license, D license preferred. The ideal candidate needs to possess knowledge of water and waste water plants, collection and distribution system operations. Must obtain or possess a class D. water and waste water license within 1 year of employment. Experience in minor electrical, instrumentation, controls, heavy equipment operations and mechanical troubleshooting are highly desirable. This position requires on-call coverage and weekend hours on a rotating basis. The candidate must be able to respond to emergency calls. This safety sensitive position may require a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
