Job Summary

The Occupational Therapy Assistant, under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist, will provide therapeutic procedures (both group and individual) to develop, improve, recover, or maintain self-care and home management skills, motor functions, reasoning abilities, and/ or provide compensatory strategies and caregiver education for permanent loss of function.

Assists in the assessment, treatment, and implementation of participant care in accordance with state practice acts.
Participates in the discharge planning of participants from the hospital, assisted living, and/or skilled nursing facilities.
Provides training to caregivers and family members for the applicable area of treatment plan. Reviews restorative care plans with the OT as directed by department policy.
Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient participant care delivery and the achievement of desired outcomes

Qualifications:
Completion of an Associate’s degree in OTA from an AOTA accredited program.
Minimum of one year of experience working with the elderly in a day center or long-term care facility.
Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the State of Michigan.
