Established in 1918, WSSC is among the largest water and wastewater utilities in the nation, with a network of nearly 5,600 miles of fresh water pipeline and more than 5,400 miles of sewer pipeline. Serving 1.8 million residents in Prince George’s and Montgomery counties, WSSC drinking water has always met or exceeded federal standards.


Qualifications:
Specifically, the Sr. Civil Engineer will perform these essential functions;

• Performs research and compiles comprehensive reports and directs the performance of major wastewater inspection projects
• Participates in the planning and development of proactive measures for collection system operation and maintenance activities
• Manages the day-to-day operations of consultants performing comprehensive sewer studies, closed circuit television (CCTV) and trunk sewer inspection and flow monitoring services throughout the sewer district
• Manages the day-to-day operations of consultants performing comprehensive sewer studies, closed circuit television (CCTV) and trunk sewer inspection and flow monitoring services throughout the sewer district
• Prepares scope of work and specifications for collection system inspection projects and comprehensive sewer studies.
• re-stressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe (PCCP) program and the valves assessment program.
• Consults with various Groups/Units, manufacturers, suppliers, consultants and contractors, conducts complex studies and investigations and prepares reports on use of new and emerging technologies for water pipeline infrastructure inspection and condition assessment.
• Prepares contract documents, change orders and time extensions for water pipeline infrastructure condition assessment projects.
• Reviews CCTV and manhole inspection videos and makes recommendations for rehabilitating deteriorating elements of the collection system
• Performs field visits to ensure contract quality and to verify inspection information.
• Leads inspection teams with specialized research projects, such as chronic sewer overflow and basement backups and complex collection system studies


Comments:
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Sanitary, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
• 3 years of civil, sanitary or environmental engineering experience.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to obtain a WSSC driver's permit.


PREFERENCES:

• Possession of the National Association of Sewer Service Companies(NASSCO)Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP), Manhole Assessment Certification Program (MACP) certifications.
• Possession of an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation from NCEES.
