The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department in Lexington, South Carolina has a current opening for a Crime Analyst. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under regular supervision, the Crime Analyst will provide support for day-to-day Criminal Intelligence operations, reporting to the Director of Information and Record Systems. Responsibilities for this position will include the following:

♦ Collect, refine, analyze, interpret, and summarize various data
♦ Research and/or gather intelligence using various databases
♦ Prepare and review analytical summaries, visual data, supplemental reports, and information bulletins
♦ Conduct background investigations on criminal suspects using various databases
♦ Monitor social media outlets for criminal intelligence gathering/investigations
♦ Map geographic information
♦ Attend meetings with investigators to provide criminal intelligence gathered and to identify other intelligence that may be used and needed

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

o Knowledge of proper analysis techniques for a variety of data formats and types
o Basic knowledge of how to filter and query data
o High level of proficiency with relational database and spreadsheet applications including Access and Excel.
o Knowledge of the principles, concepts, methods, and techniques of crime analysis
o Basic knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software functionality and analytical capabilities, specifically ESRI ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro (preferred)
o Basic knowledge of current law enforcement principles, practices, and procedures (preferred)
o Basic knowledge of departmental standard operating policies and procedures, as well as Federal, State, and Local Laws and Ordinances (preferred)


Qualifications:
Education and Training

4 years college or equivalent work experience required. Experience working in a law enforcement setting is preferred.

$16.58 / hour, DOQ
