We are currently seeking a Systems Maintenance Technician to help operate and maintain the district’s Collection and Distribution system assets. This position supports the goals of the Field Operations Department, which maintains and enhances the safety and well-being of the community by providing exceptional water and wastewater service, and maintaining the District’s extensive network of underground assets. The department continuously strives to meet the needs of the community by constantly focusing on customer service, efficient and effective utilization of resources, safety, innovation, and teamwork.

This is an exciting opportunity for a mechanically inclined self-starter looking for workplace stability while still pushing forward to develop their skills and stay ahead of the curve with industry best practices. The ideal candidate for this role must be a hard worker with a positive attitude who is comfortable performing manual labor and preventative maintenance. This position will work with lots of different people and have a good mix of outdoor field work office work and. The Day to Day:
DISTRIBUTION AND COLLECTION: Gains a basic knowledge of location Distribution and Collection system assets and navigation of GIS maps. Maintains an inventory of spare parts for collection and distribution systems.
WORK ORDERS AND DOCUMENTATION: Navigates and completes work orders and asset inspections in Cityworks. Understands and utilizes customer service documents, cut-sheets via SharePoint.
PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE: Assists with preventative and corrective maintenance activities related to Distribution & Collection assets, including repair and maintenance of equipment. Demonstrate knowledge of on-call procedures and elevation protocols. Assists with televising sewer mains. Assists in performing or performs maintenance and repairs to fire hydrants, water mains, water valves, PRV's, PRV rebuilds, emergency repairs, sewer lines, sewer manholes, lift stations and helping other departments as needed. Operates power and hand tools in assisting with main repairs and system maintenance. Assist with or executes snow removal on lots, sidewalks or fire hydrants.
NEW CONSTRUCTION: May assist with locates, inspections, water taps, and sewer taps.
ADMINISTRATION: Completes administrative functions correctly and on time including purchasing card reconciliation, ADP time entry, scheduling, and reading emails.
SAFETY: Demonstrates understanding of district Rules and Regulations as it pertains to Field Operations Department. Embraces the safety culture at the district and follows all safety protocols. Required to follow all District safety and security policies and standard. Wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by the job duties. Maintains all required safety certifications and makes sure all safety trainings are up to date.

Qualifications:
Qualifications
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Experience with Water and Wastewater Utility Distribution and Collection systems preferred.
• OCPO Colorado Distribution and Collection Licenses strongly preferred.
• Must be able to obtain Colorado Distribution I and Collection I certifications within 18 months of date of employment All Certifications and Licenses must be kept current.
• Must obtain a class “B” CDL or higher within six months of employment.
• Must be comfortable performing repetitive preventative maintenance tasks, including turning valves, jetting, CCTV work, and fire hydrant maintenance.
• Mechanical ability required.
• Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and be on call.
• Proven customer service skills and the ability to work productively with minimal direct supervision.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to read maps, and interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
• Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) are essential. This position works closely with consumers, contractors, developers and other District Departments.
• Computer proficiency required, including basic Microsoft Office skills including Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Must have aptitude and ability to work with CMMS to create work orders and use GIS to read maps.
• Ability to use office equipment such as phone systems, copier, and fax machine, and radio system required.
• Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's license and be insurable under District's standards.
• Must obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within the first six (6) months of employment.

Comments:
Compensation depends on experience and certifications. Trainee level operators usually start at $18.75/hr.
