JOB SUMMARY
This non-exempt position performs a variety of procedures to include routine analyses of aqueous and semi-aqueous samples associated with the operation of water, wastewater, and distribution system to ensure compliance with State and EPA regulations.

Some duties include, but not limited to:
• Performs chemical, physical, biological, and bacteriological analyses of raw and treated wastewater, industrial discharges, drinking water, surface, and ground water to determine quality, safety and suitability of water, to maintain compliance with State and EPA regulations and to meet process control needs.
• Responsible for, but not limited to, nutrient analysis and reporting utilizing a segmented flow analyzer for a variety of water matrices. Performs analyses using bench top chemistry instruments and complex instrumentation such as spectrophotometers and chromatographs to test for a variety of analytes. Operates analytical equipment that may also include total organic carbon analyzer and microscope. Responsible for standards preparation as necessary for method analyses.
• Assists with the remote monitoring program for drinking water reservoir. This includes, but is not limited to, installation and retrieval of remote monitoring station, calibration of instrumentation, maintenance and troubleshooting of station, data management and reporting, and communication of information to the Laboratory Supervisor, Water Resources, and Engineering.

Qualifications:
Successful candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Microbiology or a closely related field preferred; extensive experience in lieu of education may be considered. Minimum two years of laboratory experience related to general water quality analysis and operations of complex instrumentation. Prior exposure to the water/wastewater industry and/or other environmental research desirable.

Additional education or certification may be required depending upon current background. For example: Analyst I / II / III Certification.

Comments:
Salary hiring range: $30.01 - $39.69/hour dependent on prior knowledge and experience. Excellent benefits include health, dental, vision and life insurance, plus retirement plan.
