GENERAL STATEMENT/ ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


Metro Wastewater Reclamation District in Denver, CO - a nationally recognized leader among clean water utilities, provides wastewater conveyance and treatment services for approximately 2 million people in the Denver Metro area.

Performs skilled work in the operation, maintenance, and inspection of the interceptor sewer system. Works under the direction of a Transmission Supervisor. May be assigned work by an Interceptor System Operator II or Interceptor System Operator – Lead. May direct the work of lower classifications. Conducts work independently consistent with the designation as an ISO I or ISO II.



TYPICAL DUTIES:


1.Operates and maintains stationary or portable flow metering equipment at assigned metering locations. Operates and maintains portable and stationary wastewater sampling equipment. Uses computers to collect and input data into various databases.
2.Collects wastewater samples using the equipment and procedures mandated by the District's sampling programs. Delivers samples to Laboratory Services Department for analysis.
3.Prepares documentation such as inspection reports, chain-of-custody logs, flow monitoring field sheets, etc. to support various Transmission programs.
4.Operates and maintains equipment necessary to perform surface and subsurface inspection of interceptor sewers and pipelines. Uses computers to collect and input data into various inspection databases.
5.Operates, maintains, and repairs interceptor sewers, metering facilities and other hydraulic structures. Operates equipment necessary to maintain or repair these facilities.
6.Inspects the construction of new Transmission facilities or modifications to existing facilities.
7.Responds to interceptor emergencies to investigate complaints, remove obstructions, control odors and prevent damage to District or private property.
8.Performs other related duties as required.

SPECIAL NOTE: Must complete the Basic Operations Module requirements of the Interceptor System Operations Staff Training Program, including obtaining certifications, within specified timeframe.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Ability to interpret data trends, comprehend written technical procedures and manuals, and ability to do mathematics using decimals and fractions. Must have a valid Colorado Class B Commercial Driver's License and Collection System Operator certification Class I from the State of Colorado. Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task in a high-activity work environment.
Desired Qualifications
Vocational, technical, military training and/or college coursework. Hands–on experience monitoring technical systems/equipment and following Standard Operating Procedures for complex processes. Proven ability to conduct field measurements, observations and analyses. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills sufficient to perform equipment inspections and adjustments as well as planned maintenance activities. Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills sufficient to interact effectively in a team based environment. Strong work ethic with proven success operating autonomously supporting high safety standards/practices. Associate's degree in wastewater technology or engineering technology.
