The Denver Police Department is the largest police agency in the state of Colorado with over 1500 uniformed and non-uniformed staff members. The department has more than 20 analysts that provide policy analysis, tactical, strategic and administrative analysis and are responsible for advanced analytical methodologies to support decision making and strategies.

The Denver Police Department is seeking an innovative leader who can develop and implement new analytical methodologies to assist in the improvement of the agency planning, performance and prevention of problems. The Crime Analyst Supervisor will provide leadership and guidance to the crime analysts. This is a dual management role where the analyst receives assignments from their assigned unit but receives training, mentoring and innovation from their Supervisor.

The Crime Analyst Supervisor primary objectives include:
Building relationships with the analysts through job shadowing. Observe current processes and recognize when changes could improve workflow. Develop a comprehensive instructional curriculum for analysts and provide opportunities for existing employees to expand skills and abilities. Coordinate and collaborate with the command staff in the Police Department to implement new strategies and provide reliable statistical analysis and recommendations to support sound decision making.
In the Crime Analyst Supervisor role, you will also:
Effectively communicate with the analysts as well as the leaders of the department stakeholders in order to discuss and resolve issues/concerns, exchange information, and recommend changes to improve operations and services.
Build and maintain healthy working relationships between team members, clients and the organization.
Train new staff members in analysis techniques and methodologies.
Perform specialized and complex analytical work which includes conducting and executing studies/projects that have major department policy implications and providing top level management with information necessary for decision-making and organizational planning.
Facilitate a weekly Crime Strategy Briefing which includes coordinating crime patterns and strategies with the analysts and prepare and present at a meeting with the Command staff.
Develop the performance enhancement plan, document performance, provide performance feedback, and formally evaluate the work of employees.
Respond to formal and informal employee grievances and prepare written responses.

Qualifications:
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
Bachelors degree or higher in Criminal Justice or a related field
Experience with business intelligence applications
Experience with integrating data from multiple sources
Experience with relational databases and SQL Developer

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Management or a related field
Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience planning and conducting management studies including determining study methods and procedures, analyzing data, developing recommendations and implementation strategies, and preparing reports of findings and recommendations.
Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post high-school education. A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
