Details:
Perform intermediate analytical research methods and statistical analysis to develop, compile, prepare and disseminate notices and reports of crime trends and patterns to internal and external officials. Search multiple data sets, recognize relevant information, and transmit that information to appropriate agency members. Utilize general to intermediate level statistical analysis, data analysis, forecasting and trending to create a variety of detailed and/or narrative reports for use in the field of criminal intelligence, planning, and prevention.
Job Duties
Analyzes, monitors, and identifies local, state, and national intelligence information to assess developments, trends, prediction models and threat implications within identified geographical areas. This work is accomplished through the knowledge and application of statistics up to an intermediate level, regression analysis as an example, mapping skills, and advanced skill in analysis software and other related software.
Conducts statistical analysis, forecasting, and trending on gathered crime intelligence data and any other data relevant for criminal intelligence analysis. Coordinates the results of statistical studies to assist operations and administrative personnel in planning the deployment of resources for the prevention and suppression of criminal activities.
Conducts research of open sources such as social media, video feeds and law enforcement data bases; determines the reliability factor and consolidates the various intelligence reports, consolidating intelligence reports from other agencies and analyzes the data to prepare and disseminate intelligence reports, hot sheets, data analysis, and written reports on a daily or as needed basis for the department staff and external department staff and agencies.
Works with various internal department staff and external departments and agencies with mapping, charting, and analysis. Assists with and/or develops the preparation of intelligence briefings.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Public Administration or closely related field.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year related experience in compiling, analyzing and interpreting data. Prior experience as a Wilmington Police Department intern in the Sting Center (RTCC) will be be given equivalent experience credit.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree preferred
Experience in a law enforcement agency, with increasing responsibility for compiling and analyzing data.
Knowledge of research and data analysis methods and techniques.
Educational coursework related to quantitative and/or research methods.
Knowledgeable of and adherence to intel collection, sharing, dissemination standards.
Other Requirements: Valid Driver's License
Comments:
The salary range for this position in $37,856 - $58,635. Starting salary will be dependent on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefits package includes participation in the Local Government Employees Retirement system and a 4.5% contribution to a deferred compensation plan
