Details:
Works directly under the wastewater plant chief operator. May be asked to supervise or orientate lesser qualified operators. Will be asked to assist in scheduling of operators/projects, budgeting and other administrative duties. This level of operator is distinguished by the amount of supervision exercised and received.

Wastewater Treatment: Performs work in the wastewater treatment plant and wastewater lift station to ensure that no degradation of receiving waters occur.

The following examples are intended to be illustrative only and are not all inclusive. Maintains and operates pumps, lift stations, chlorinators, compressors, digester mixing systems, boilers, telemetry and SCADA systems. Troubleshoots and repairs minor electrical, and major mechanical equipment. Maintains daily operating records. Maintains buildings and plant grounds. Conducts test on wastewater influent, plant processes and wastewater effluent. Submits reports to the EPA and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Applies biosolids to agricultural lands for beneficial use per CDPHE guidelines.

Qualifications:
Must have a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid Colorado driver's license and be able to obtain a Class A Colorado CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements within six (6) months of employment. Must be familiar with water safety practices. Must be able to learn the appropriate operation of equipment, including heavy construction equipment. Must work well with co-workers, workers from other City departments, and the general public.

Comments:
Must live within 50 miles from the intersection of Grand Avenue and 8th Street. Total travel time cannot exceed 60 minutes at posted driving speeds. All employees who live within 30 miles of Grand Avenue and 8th Street may drive a Public Works vehicle to their home when on call or stand by.
