Brief Description
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Director of Project Management for the Office of Institutional Research and Decision Support.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

Provides a high level of project management oversight and analysis on major university wide initiatives and special projects with high visibility.
Acts as the bridge between inquiries, data collection, analysis, and strategic decision-making to ensure university leadership, from across Rutgers, has the information they need to make informed decisions that enhance the institution’s performance.
Provides project management, with a customer service-focused mindset, for OIRDS’ core activity of capturing, extracting, analyzing, and reporting institutional data on faculty, students, staff, and other critical academic needs for leadership’s decision-making purposes and external reporting requirements.
Assists the Vice President in managing the workflow of Institutional Research projects.
Performs professional work that requires specialized to general knowledge of the field of institutional research, and possess a solid understanding, use and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, and terminology of this area of specialization.

Job Details
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in higher education administration, public policy, data science, business administration, applied mathematics, statistics, social science, or in a related scientific field or discipline.
  • Five or more years of project management experience in higher education.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with faculty, staff and leadership.
  • Ability to work with individuals with diverse background and perspectives on data usage.
  • Demonstrated management skills in both technical and interpersonal aspects of the role, including the ability to build, lead, and support cross-functional teams while effectively collaborating with various stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with tools and software for project management (examples: Monday.com, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Terminal degree and five years of university administrative experience.
  • Five years or more experience designing, administering, and analyzing surveys or assessments for institutional effectiveness or accreditation purposes.
  • Five years or more experience gathering and analyzing educational data (e.g., student success metrics, faculty surveys, retention rates, enrollment trends.
  • Three or more years of experience in management.
  • Familiarity with tools and software for data analysis (examples: SPSS, SAS, Excel, R, Python, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Qualtrics,)
