Job Details
Bennington College, a pioneering liberal arts college located in southwestern Vermont, seeks an Associate Director of Enrollment Research and Analytics to provide data-informed and actionable insights into recruitment, enrollment, and retention at Bennington College. Reporting to the Dean of Research, Planning, and Assessment in the Provost and Dean’s Office, and working closely with the Vice President for Enrollment in the Office of Admissions at key points throughout the year, this unique position will play a pivotal role in deploying data to support recruitment, retention, and student success efforts at the College.

The ideal candidate will bring a passion, creativity, and natural curiosity for data to support Bennington’s enrollment and retention goals. The Associate Director will collect and analyze data to help improve the depth, quality, and diversity of the students who choose to apply to and attend Bennington, managing a diverse array of research projects related to Bennington’s enrollment pipeline, recruitment and travel strategy, retention, and student success efforts. The Associate Director will also support strategic deployment of financial aid, and will work closely with the Director of Financial Aid on data analysis and reporting. Finally, the Associate Director will merge enrollment data across technology platforms, and will conduct routine and ad hoc modeling to support planning efforts throughout the year. As part of this work, the Associate Director will be responsible for crafting tables, charts, and other analyses for use in reports and presentations.

This position requires impeccable attention to detail, exceptional quantitative skills (including advanced use of Excel, SPSS, R, or other statistical software), and a keen understanding of how analytics can inform decision making. Experience with advanced statistical methods, and with the management, manipulation, and analysis of large enrollment datasets is strongly preferred; familiarity with student information software (e.g. Populi) or Customer Relationship Management software (Technolution’s Slate) desirable. The capacity for clear, thoughtful communication and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential. A bachelor’s degree in a quantitatively-oriented field and a minimum of three years of relevant experience are required; an advanced degree in the social sciences, statistics, education, or other related discipline is preferred.
