Brief Description
The Analyst in the Office of Planning and Institutional Research (OPIR) performs a variety of duties related to reporting, research design, and production of appropriate methodology for institutional assessment and survey research projects.

Villanova University is located on a 260-acre campus, 12 miles/19 kilometers west of Philadelphia. Three campus rail stops provide quick access to Philadelphia.

Job Details
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design web surveys using Qualtrics, administer surveys, analyze data using SPSS and produce summary reports with Excel, Word, Power Point and/or data visualization software as appropriate.
  • Prepare qualitative reports, including the editing, coding and production of final qualitative comments and final reports.
  • Design paper surveys using Word. Manage and process all paper surveys including programming the survey instrument for digital scanning, scan/edit surveys, data entry of all comments and text fields, editing and cleaning data, and creating final raw data file for export and analysis.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of integrated institutional self-assessment programs, including the gathering/analyzing of data and preparation of written reports, info-graphics, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Proof all quantitative reports, comparing tabular and graphic data with SPSS output to ensure complete accuracy of the data.
  • Prepare large survey projects for mailing.
  • Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a research or analytical field of study, such as, statistics, social sciences, educational research, or a closely related field is required.
  • Two years or more of experience in higher education or comparable professional environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong quantitative and statistical skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, strong oral and written communication skills; strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); Knowledge of Remark scanning process and/or Qualtrics online survey tool preferred.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on research data findings, apply statistical principles using SPSS or any other statistical software.
  • Ability to effectively develop graphical visualization of research findings. Knowledge of visualization software such as Power BI, Tableau or Cognos Analytics preferred.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality, and be very detail oriented while understanding the larger framework for detailed operations. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and work independently and collaboratively on projects that deal with confidential information. Must have a high attention to detail pertaining to data accuracy and data quality. High level of adaptability to meet the changing needs of the office. Ability to learn new skills quickly is essential. Good understanding of department-wide procedures and how they relate to the divisional/university procedures.
  • Mastery of the personal computer, proficiency with standard office equipment.
