Do you find joy in uncovering the story that a set of data tells?  Do you excel at Excel (or SPSS or other analytical software)? Do you make it look easy when communicating with your colleagues about tough topics like student success?  Does your attention to detail extend from clean data sets to amazingly effective data visualizations?  If you answered “yes” to these questions, you might be the candidate Olin College of Engineering is looking for to fill the position of Director of Institutional Research & Decision Support.  Founded in 1997, Olin educates engineering innovators while leading transformation in engineering education.  Olin is a small school with an outsized impact and was recently named the #1 engineering education innovator in a report commissioned by MIT.  The curriculum emphasizes design, teamwork, real-world problems and pedagogies that make students equal partners in their own learning.

The director plays a key role in supporting Olin’s mission and goals by leading efforts in institutional research, assessment and accreditation.  We are seeking a strong communicator and collaborator who has a proven track record in institutional research and assessment, the drive to uncover results and share them successfully with the community, and the ability to partner with colleagues to successfully promote change within the institution and beyond.  At the same time, we’re looking for someone who is a data whisperer and tech whiz, while remaining focused on students. Additionally, the director is responsible for expanding data literacy on campus in general, as well as the management and continued professional development of Olin’s senior research analyst.

If this position sounds like it might be right for you, we invite you to submit your resume and cover letter at jobs@olin.edu.  Digital artifacts that show off your skills are welcome as part of your application.  If you’re looking for a more formal description of the position before applying, please visit the Olin website at http://www.olin.edu/join-community/staff/010919-director-of-institutional-research-and-decision-support/.
