Brief Description

The Associate Provost for Assessment and Curriculum takes the lead in all matters associated with campus assessment and curricular design, revision, and implementation.

Serving as the campus Accreditation Liaison Officer, the APAC manages all aspects of accreditation through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The APAC leads campus assessment of the effectiveness of all units on campus through communication of proven practices in outcomes assessment and oversight of a regular cycle of assessment and review. The APAC ensures that the college is compliant with state and federal regulations and chairs or is an ex officio member of college committees in the domain of curriculum and assessment, including the Strategic Planning Group and the College Assessment Council.

The APAC also collaborates with academic units through processes for revising and developing programs and oversees required internal review and approval by outside agencies. As the college officer responsible for enforcing college and SUNY policies with respect to the design and implementation of all courses and degree programs, the APAC works with academic programs, the Office of Institutional Research, the Dean for Academic Planning and Advising, and the Associate Provost for Student Success to recommend and implement proven practices in curricular design in support of campus efforts to increase retention and completion.

SUNY Geneseo is currently accepting applications for the position of Associate Provost for Assessment and Curriculum. This position reports directly to the college’s Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and is the lead campus office on matters associated with assessment, accreditation, and curricular implementation.

The Associate Provost for Assessment and Curriculum has broad responsibilities in campus assessment and accreditation efforts. The position serves as the campus Accreditation Liaison Officer and manages all aspects of accreditation through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The APAC leads campus assessment of the effectiveness of all units on campus through communication of leading practices in outcomes assessment and oversight of a regular cycle of assessment and review. Additionally, the APAC ensures that the college is compliant with state and federal regulations involving academic programming. This position serves as an ex officio member of college committees in the domain of curriculum and assessment, including the Strategic Planning Group and the College Assessment Council.

The APAC also plays important roles in advising and administering curricular development. This position collaborates with academic units throughout governance processes for revising and developing programs and oversees required internal review and approval by outside agencies. Responsible for enforcing college and SUNY policies with respect to the design and implementation of all courses and degree programs, the APAC works with academic programs, the Office of Institutional Research, the Dean for Academic Planning and Advising, and the Associate Provost for Student Success to recommend and implement proven practices in curricular design that support campus efforts to increase retention and completion.

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities for the Office of the Registrar, oversees campus systems that manage curricular requirements, and contributes to implementation of course rotations and scheduling. The APAC will also collaborate with Academic Affairs offices that support emerging initiatives such as online and digital learning opportunities, interdisciplinary academic programs, summer and intersession courses, microcredentials, and other program development. As a member of the Provost’s Office Leadership Team, the APAC will participate in Academic Affairs policy discussions and will contribute to ongoing work to support equity of student access to academic programs, and retention and completion efforts.
