Brief Description
Reporting to the Institutional Research Director, the responsibilities of the Institutional Research Specialist, in addition to the duties within the CUNY Title Overview, will include but are not limited to:
• Working with the Institutional Research team to implement and maintain data structures necessary to support internal and external reporting needs
• Utilizing programming and business intelligence tools to develop and deploy reports and reporting solutions using robust tables, graphs and dashboards geared toward executive-level information in support of strategic decision-making and institutional effectiveness
• Conducting evidence-based research and transform data into actionable knowledge
• Assisting with the development, design and conducting of research studies in areas such as recruitment, admission, enrollment, financial aid, student services, persistence, and graduation specific to returning, online adult learners
• Creating and deploying of internal and external surveys, and ensure timely collection, analysis, interpretation and distribution of survey results
• Collaborating with internal College constituencies to meet program and department data needs
• Assisting with the creation of all Institutional Research publications

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.
Other qualifications:
• Proficiency with SPSS and SPSS syntax as well as Microsoft Access and Excel
• Strong quantitative skills with a background in statistics and research methods
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple project timelines
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency with producing reports for various constituencies
• Data visualization software experience a plus (e.g., Cognos, Tableau)
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Oversees collection and assessment of data for Institutional Research purposes.
  • Compiles, maintains, and analyzes institutional data in various formats
  • Produces reports and metrics based on department's needs; responds to time-critical ad-hoc requests
  • Loads, extracts, edits, and evaluates data for reporting and analytics
  • Maintains selected databases and document libraries, updating and ensuring data quality and accuracy
  • May participate in internal and external surveys as needed
  • May consult with others in designing methodology for research projects
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience up to $61,593.
