Brief Description
UNH’s office of Institutional Research and Assessment (IR&A) is part of UNH’s Center for DATA, a centralized source for data, analytics, and reporting for the UNH community. The Institutional Research Associate will have a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to: reporting data to external entities; coordinating UNH participation in externally administered surveys; extracting, analyzing and reporting institutional data from UNH’s data warehouse; providing data to academic departments for academic program review; and maintaining IR&A’s website.

Job Details
Duties: 
1. Develop and maintain an up to date, accurate, and comprehensive store of information and data on UNH students, faculty, programs, operations, services and outcomes to for use in completing guidebook and ranking surveys and responding to ad hoc information requests. Obtain data and produce comparative analyses on other institutions using data available from public sources such as IPEDS.
2. Coordinate and complete all major surveys for college rankings, guidebooks, publications, and other information-gathering entities using consistently defined and accurate institutional data.
3. Participate in preparing and reporting institutional data to public sources: Prepare annual UNH Common Data Set for publication to the IR&A website. Assist in the completion of annual IPEDS surveys. Keep abreast of changes in reporting requirements of external entities.
4. Using UNH’s enterprise data warehouse and SAP Business Objects Business Web Intelligence platform (WebI), extract data and create reports and analyses in response to internal and external requests. Present results in formats appropriate for intended audience/purpose including Excel tables and graphs and Tableau visualizations.
5. Update and maintain IR&A’s website including suggesting and implementing design changes and ensuring that content is current and relevant.
6. Oversee UNH’s participation in the annual administration of the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) including managing communications with sponsoring institution and publishing NSSE reports to IR&A website. Assist with college-specific data analysis and preparation of reports from NSSE raw data.
7. Assessment and accreditation: Prepare data packages for academic program reviews (APR). Maintain a schedule of upcoming and completed program reviews. Prepare annual report for UNH accrediting body (NECHE). Assist in providing data for NECHE five and ten year accreditation reviews.

Minimum Qualifications: 
• Bachelor’s degree in a social science, math, or business field including coursework in statistics and 3 years of work experience, ideally in a higher education setting
• High level of proficiency with Excel.
• Experience using SPSS or other statistical analysis software.
• Solid understanding of and the ability to calculate and interpret descriptive statistics; exposure to inferential statistics.
• Understanding of relational databases.
• Strong interest and aptitude for learning new data and analytic tools.
• Extremely high attention to detail and the ability to check and validate work for accuracy.
• Ability to produce clear and visually appealing graphs, tables, and charts.
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple simultaneous projects while meeting deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong commitment to superior client service
• Ability to build relationships with colleagues across departments.
• Ability to work with confidential data in compliance with university data security and
governance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications: 
• Understanding of business intelligence concepts and supporting technologies.
• Experience analyzing higher education data.
• Experience using Tableau or other data visualization tools.
• Experience making website design changes and content updates.
