Job Details

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyze and interpret data from our Student Information System, Banner, using MS Access; develop reports in Tableau, Argos, and Excel; Maintain longitudinal datasets for analysis of admissions, enrollment, courses, degree, transfer, and financial data;
  • Document processes for creating all routine reports generated in the department;
  • Maintain Tableau views on website for public and internal users, of the most commonly requested data trends, in an effort to migrate to an online Dashboard and Fact book.
  • Assist with training end-users on Tableau, and the drill-down capabilities so they understand and utilize the views to their full capacity.
  • Create semester reports of institutional data;
  • Research, administer, collect, and analyze data for the purposes of evaluating academic outcomes, and overall effectiveness of college initiatives;
  • Support the Department and Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness in developing and delivering presentations for internal and external audiences;
  • Work with college committees to support information needs;
  • Work collaboratively within the department as well as across divisions to develop and generate reports, identify data anomalies, and streamline/support operational and research functions.
  • Participate in MCC's Data Governance initiative. Attend conferences and/or trade shows to stay up-to-date on technology tools like Tableau and ARGOS, and current IR practices.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must develop a clear understanding of the college mission and student population.
  • Collaborate across the college and within the division. Assist in collecting data for state and federal audits;
  • Perform other duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Normal office environment, not subject to extreme variations of temperature, noise, odors, etc. May use computer keyboards requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. May involve attendance at evening meetings. More than half of time spent in normal office setting.

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant field (data analytics, social science, business, math, or related) required;
  • Experience in institutional research/data analytics in an educational setting, preferably higher education;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize appropriately;
  • Significant experience with data management and data mining, in particular with large, complex student information systems (such as Banner, PeopleSoft, etc.) or other administrative computing systems;
  • Experience in developing and writing reports and queries using a relational database as a source - MS Access experience a plus; Experience in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Qualtrics or similar survey software required;
  • Knowledge of Standard Query Language (SQL);
  • Strong problem solving ability; Must be detail oriented;
  • Ability to gather, interpret, and analyze data concerning a variety of issues and trends; Ability to work in a team environment to reach institutional goals;
  • Experience and/or knowledge of working with individuals of diverse socio-economic, cultural, racial and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

PREFERRED:

  • Knowledge of some statistical software (e.g. SPSS, SAS, STATA);
  • Bilingual skills.

Additional Information:

Title III Grant Funded, full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Non-Unit Professional position with benefits.  For further information, see the Non-Unit Personnel Policies Handbook.  

Location: Lowell Campus with occasional time at the Bedford Campus and other sites. During COVID-19 restrictions, this position will primarily be both remote, and in person at the Lowell and Bedford campus as necessary.

SALARY: Grade 6 ($48,800 - $73,200). Starting salary within this range is dependent upon experience in a closely related position.
