Brief Description
Under the direction of the Institutional Research Director, the Research Analyst II will be responsible for the more difficult and complex work of staff responsible for extracting, compiling, analyzing data and creating reports, dashboards, and data visualizations about students, academic programs, courses, personnel, and any other aspects of the university as requested. The department is especially interested in candidates who can work independently and is analytical, able to think in a logical, sequential manner, as evidenced by the ability to 1) write codes, scripts, or syntaxes; 2) integrate data from multiple sources, and; 3) troubleshoot data anomalies and data integrity issues. The department is especially interested in candidates who possesses a strong knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, as well as descriptive and inferential statistics using software such as SAS highly desirable or SPSS. The department is especially interested in candidates who possesses strong team customer-service attitude, able to explain technical and statistical information in understandable terms, and fully committed to facilitating data-driven decisions for enhanced student success.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responds to recurring and ad hoc data requests from university administrative and academic offices.  Writes simple to complex queries in SAS for data extraction, data analysis, data maintenance and data integrity.  Uses knowledge of quantitative research methods as applied in the social sciences, including statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, data collection, data coding and transformation, survey design, and sampling techniques to conduct statistical studies and support institutional research.  Uses base SAS, SAS Visual Analytics, and other data management tools to prepare related reports, summaries, and dashboards.  Uses predictive analytics and data mining (SAS Enterprise Miner) to develop data models for student enrollment management and student success.  Interprets research findings and disseminates results and recommendations to university leadership in oral and written formats.  Manages multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, sets priorities, performs long-range project planning, and meets deadlines.  Other duties as assigned.
