Job Details

The data analyst/senior data analyst will assist with data collection through institutional surveys and assessments, as well as internal and external reporting.  Possibility of filling two positions.  Responsibilities include: Develop reports and datasets to support decision making and planning across the University; assist with data collection and analysis of institutional surveys and assessments, such as the National Survey of Student Engagement and the New Alumni Success Project. Data collection methodologies may include administration of online surveys, in-person (paper) surveys, phone surveys, focus groups, online searches, and more; provide institutional data for college guidebooks, the Delaware Cost Study, and other similar external data requests; provide data for routine institutional research reporting, such as the Common Data Set and the Fact Book; assist with data submission for IPEDS (federal) and HEI (state) reporting; design and run queries to obtain data from Banner, the OBIEE data warehousing tool, and other data systems; work closely with other institutional offices to ensure the integrity of institutional data; maintain and update the Institutional Research website; complete ad hoc requests; perform other duties as assigned.  


Require (for appointment as Data Analyst): Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, a social science field with heavy emphasis on quantitative analysis, or other field with heavy emphasis on analytics; two years’ experience in higher education, preferably in a role involving data analysis; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, or similar programs, including query design and use of pivot tables; proficient in SPSS, SAS, or other statistical package; ability to use queries to extract data from an integrated data system; ability to present facts clearly, concisely and objectively; strong written or oral communication skills; ability to work independently and to manage multiple projects in a timely manner; commitment to data accuracy and consistency; ability to maintain confidentiality. 

Require (for appointment as Senior Data Analyst):  Master’s degree in computer science, statistics, a social science field with heavy emphasis on quantitative analysis, or other field with heavy emphasis on analytics; three years’ experience in higher education in a role involving data analysis; experience designing and administering surveys; strong working knowledge of SPSS, SAS, or other statistical package; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, or similar programs, including query design and use of pivot tables; ability to use queries to extract data from an integrated data system; ability to present facts clearly, concisely and objectively; strong written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently and to manage multiple projects in a timely manner; commitment to data accuracy and consistency; ability to maintain confidentiality.
