The Research Analyst works under the supervision of the Director for Survey Research and Evaluation and assists in the performance of a variety of duties related to survey design, data collection, data processing, data cleaning, and reporting for institutional assessment and survey research projects.

Job Details
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the Director with commissioned survey projects, including the design and administration of web surveys using Qualtrics, assisting in the analysis of data using SPSS, and creating summary reports with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and/or data visualization software as appropriate.
  • Assist with constructing databases, including the coding and defining of variables used to report on surveys over time.
  • Disseminate all survey project results, including the gathering/analyzing/proofing of data and preparation of written reports, infographics, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Proof quantitative reports, comparing tabular and graphic data with SPSS output to ensure complete accuracy of the data.
  • Prepare qualitative reports, including the editing, coding and production of comments and draft reports.
  • Help administer paper surveys, including programming the survey instrument for digital scanning, scan/edit surveys, data entry of all comments and text fields, editing and cleaning data, and creating final raw data file for export and analysis.
  • Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 1-2 years, with demonstrated experience in a research or analytical field of study, such as, statistics, social sciences, educational research, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Experience communicating complex information in writing.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Must be very detail oriented while understanding the larger framework for detailed operations.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and work independently and collaboratively on projects that deal with confidential information.
  • Must have a high attention to detail pertaining to data accuracy and data quality.
  • High level of adaptability to meet the changing needs of the office. Ability to learn new skills quickly is essential.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality in working with sensitive information
  • Understanding and ability to organize and catalogue data.
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more statistical software packages
  • Demonstrated experience in all standard computer applications, including Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
  • PC, working on varied server environments
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a research or analytical field of study, such as, statistics, social sciences, educational research, or a closely related field.
  • Two or more years in or more of experience in higher education or comparable professional environment.
  • Understand the principles of survey research and data analysis.
  • Intermediate proficiency in SPSS and Excel
  • Experience working with data-visualization software, Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server preferred
  • Experience with online survey tools, Qualtrics preferred
  • Knowledge of data scanning equipment.
