Brief Description
As part of the IRDA, Analytics Architect is primarily responsible for leading the ideation, development and management of critical analytical outcomes from our new cloud based data hub. The Analytics Architect will be working in a fast paced, project based environment and will partner with the university to advance RIT’s position by supporting the development of industry leading analytical solutions such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics.

Job Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the design, development and implementation of data and analytics solutions in support of the university's analytical efforts through establishing an architectural vision, capacity planning, data engineering, decision intelligence, and providing support for advanced analytics projects.

Responsibilities include:
Analytics Architecture Leadership
  • Responsible for the design, development and deployment of data and analytics solutions and technologies.
  • Collaborates with the enterprise data and analytics team to establish the analytics architectural vision, road map, guidelines and standards, increasing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization.
  • Participates in the development of project specifications and schedules.
  • Oversees the establishment and maintenance of standards and permissible architectures to monitor data quality, ensuring production data are always accurate for key stakeholders and business processes that depend on it.
  • Defines data models that populate analytics data structures. 
  • Provides leadership and coaching in resolving complex technical problems.
Systems Analysis & Design
  • Assists customers in identifying opportunities for and implementation of data and analytics solutions for complex business processes.
  • Works closely with business areas to identify business problems and define requirements for data delivered by enterprise solutions.
  • Develops functional and technical specifications.
  • Enhances and tests data and analytics application software.
 Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, data science, information systems or related field
  • 6 to 8 years of related experience
 Required skills:
  • Possesses a broad knowledge of analytics, business intelligence and other similar areas of specialization with the ability to transfer knowledge and application of complex principles, theories and concepts to peers.
  •  Has a broad understanding of industry best practices, techniques and standards. Is a subject-matter expert in multiple technologies, products, programs, and process areas. 
  • Organizational skills frequently extend to a variety of other units, teams, areas of specialization, and departments.
  •  Able to provide guidance, coaching and training to other employees within the job area. Is responsible for delegation of work and review of work products.  In addition to being a high-level, individual contributor, this position will provide direction and leadership to data analysts. 
  • Able to manage large projects or processes with limited oversight and considerable latitude to act and make decisions. Confers with manager only on unusual matters.
  •  Contributes to the development of goals in the area and planning efforts (budgets, operational plans, etc.). 
  • Applies expert analysis techniques within the area of specialization to problem solve complex issues. Problems may require the development of new approaches, methods or techniques, requiring a high degree of innovation and creativity. Identifies what needs to be done and acts before being asked or required by the situation.
  •  Possesses communication skills necessary to interact with executive leadership regarding matters of significant importance to the institution. Able to provide direction and advice to management on technical and non-technical matters. 
  • Works to influence others about area of specialization regarding policies, procedures, and practices. Communication occurs within department, division, and externally.
  •  Experience with data management and/or statistical programming languages such as SAS, R, SQL, and Python. Hands-on experience building dashboards with Tableau, Power BI or equivalent BI tools. Demonstrated experience in querying, cleaning and transforming large data sets. 
 Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large-scale higher education administrative computing systems, specifically Azure Cloud Platform, PeopleSoft and enterprise Data & Analytics architecture frameworks.
