The Institutional Research Analyst (IR Analyst) serves as a member of the Institutional Research team to support and enhance the work of the area. The individual in the position must be knowledgeable in the analysis and use of data and should be familiar with the higher education environment. Reporting to the Executive Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, the IR Analyst will perform the following tasks:
- Assist with collection, analysis and reporting of institutional data
- Respond to external surveys and ad-hoc information requests
- Compile and maintain data for institutional fact book
- Prepare statistical charts, tables and graphs using Excel and SPSS
- Query data from Ellucian Colleague to complete analyses, research, and reports
- Work with others in the coordination and administration of various surveys undertaken by the institution
- Support the Executive Director with the institutional effectiveness process
- Support the development of data dashboards or other visual displays of data
- Assist with design and maintenance of office website
Education and experience- Bachelor's degree in the social science, education, mathematics, statistics or a related field with coursework in research methods and statistics required; master’s preferred
- Two years’ experience in institutional research or assessment within higher education or an equivalent combination of coursework and professional experience preferred.
Desired skills and characteristics- Demonstrated analytic and writing skills
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and Access
- Working knowledge of Ellucian Colleague system, including Informer reporting tool
- Familiarity with Survey Monkey or similar survey-generating software
- Willingness to learn new technologies and analytical methods
- Ability to communicate effectively quantitative and qualitative data analyses
- Strong organizational skills
- Uncompromising attention to accuracy and detail
- Able to work independently and show initiative, but also work in group/team settings
- Ability to work effectively with all segments of the campus community
- Capable of performing effectively in a fast-paced environment under strict deadlines
- Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and follow through all phases to completion
- Knowledge of SPSS highly desirable
- Some knowledge of web development and maintenance
